The company

Tellure Rôta has been designing and manufacturing wheels and castors for industrial, civil and domestic applications since 1953.
The company currently serves over 2000 customers in more than 70 countries, thanks to the professionalism of its 170 employees, who work in the company's 15,000 m2 manufacturing facilities in Formigine in the north Italian province of Modena.

The Tellure Rôta catalogue contains an extensive range of products designed to meet the most common handling requirements in the industrial, institutional and furniture sectors.

In addition to the catalogue range, the Tellure Rôta Technical Department and "TR Lab" testing & research facility work alongside customers to develop customized solutions in terms of materials, dimensions, and construction solutions to create a seamless fit with specific requirements.

Since 2000, Tellure Rôta has also been operating in Latin America through its subsidiary Tellure Rôta do Brasil

HISTORY

It 1950 that Tellure Rôta honorary president Roberto Lancellotti incorporated the small manufacturing company that was to specialise in the manufacture of wheels and castors just three years later. Tellure Rôta's history is dotted with a series of milestones marking significant developments linked to continual innovation:
- in the products, with the aim of facilitating the work of load handling personnel in all companies and organisations;


- in the organisation, with the aim of providing answers and services that match customers' specifics requirements, with fast and reliable lead times;
- in the processes, with the aim of supplying wheels and castors with precision, rapidity and flexibility.


  • 1950
  • Incorporation of the original sole proprietorship with headquarters in Modena
  • 1953
  • Registration of the trade mark and conversion into a joint stock company
  • 1961
  • First foreign customer for wheels with polyurethane covering
  • 1962
  • Set-up of a laboratory for the formulation of polyurethane coverings for wheels and for products testing activities
  • 1971
  • Tellure Rôta promotes the creation of a work group between European wheel manufacturers to write the first national and international legislations concerning wheels and castors.
  • 1972
  • Production of 2,000 wheels/day with 100 employees

  • 1980
  • Transfer to the current 10,000 m2 plant
  • 1990
  • Introduction of customer relationship management system (CRM) for use by the sales force
  • 1995
  • Investments in systems and automatic lines increase the production capacity up to 30,000 wheels/day, with 110 employees
  • 1996
  • First wheels manufacturer to obtain ISO 9001 Quality certification
  • 2000
  • Incorporation of Tellure Rôta do Brasil, based in San Paolo
  • 2002
  • ISO 9001:2000 quality certification obtained in the same year as the year of publication of the Vision 2000 set of standards

  • 2004
  • ISO 14001:2004 environmental certification obtained. Publication of the company's first Sustainability Report
  • 2005
  • Extension of production to incorporate automatic assembly systems in a 3,000m2 plant located alongside the headquarters
  • 2006
  • Start-up of the Lean Production project
  • 2008
  • Computerisation of logistic flow for customer order preparation with Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and RF management of the warehouse via a Warehouse Management System (WMS),
  • 2009
  • First company in Italy to secure occupational health and safety certification to OHSAS 18001:2007, developing an integrated Quality, Environment and Safety management system - Workforce equipped with mobile terminals (iPads)

  • 2010
  • Implementation of lean thinking principles in the design process
  • 2011
  • Qualification and accreditation of the Test & Research Lab with the Emilia-Romagna region 'Rete Alta Tecnologia' (high-technology network)
  • 2012
  • Extension of thermoplastic mouldings production in a third 1,500 m2 plant annexed to the headquarters
  • 2015
  • Renovation of building alongside headquarters and new robotic production line for polyurethane wheels and rollers
  • 2016
  • Update of the Quality and Environmental certifications in compliance with the new standards released in 2015
